Congress Demands UFO Disclosure, Rejects Further Hearings

Representative Tim Burchett, co-chair of the Congressional UAP Caucus, declared this week that Congress does not require additional hearings on unidentified flying objects (UFOs), instead demanding formal disclosure of information. Speaking with reporter Matt Laslo of Ask a Pol, Burchett highlighted how recent Pentagon file releases have shifted attitudes on Capitol Hill, with increasing numbers of members expressing interest in unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).

Despite this momentum, Burchett resisted calls for new hearings, stating Congress had “had enough” and should now focus on substantive disclosure. He revealed ongoing daily communications with the White House, acknowledging resistance from entrenched elements within the administration, commonly referred to as the “deep state.” Burchett described the disclosure process as multi-layered and complex, akin to peeling an onion. When questioned about the lack of hearings on underwater UAP, or USOs, he noted that only a single credible witness has come forward, and more testimony is needed before proceeding. He also suggested that after the first hearing in 2023 ignited interest, subsequent hearings have yielded diminishing returns.

The disclosure debate remains fraught with intricate details and competing narratives. Author Miguel Sancho, appearing on NewsNation, pointed to a notable case from a 2025 report by a senior US intelligence officer who witnessed orange glowing orbs during a helicopter mission in the western United States.

These lights reportedly moved near the ground, briefly formed a tee pattern in the sky, and then vanished. Sancho linked this phenomenon to ongoing concerns about national security, citing drone incursions at sensitive military sites such as Langley Air Force Base as part of the broader conversation surrounding aerial and potentially underwater UAP activity. Adding to the dialogue, Father Richard D’Souza, astrophysicist and Jesuit priest appointed director of the Vatican Observatory in September 2025, urged a balanced approach.

Speaking on NewsNation, he advocated for scientific scepticism and careful analysis before sensationalising the material. Curiously, his measured public stance contrasted with reports that Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Pope Leo the Fourteenth prior to the latest Pentagon file release had UFOs as a discussion topic, suggesting high-level international interest behind the scenes.

This situation reflects ongoing complexities inherent in the UAP phenomenon and the institutional response in the United States. Congressional efforts, led by figures like Burchett, underscore a shift from public hearings towards demanding tangible results and transparency.

The Pentagon’s releases and intelligence reports continue to fuel debate, highlighting patterns of aerial objects exhibiting behaviour that defies conventional explanation. Meanwhile, the question of underwater UAP or USOs remains more opaque, hindered by a paucity of credible testimony and the logistical challenges of investigating submerged phenomena.

The involvement of the Vatican Observatory and figures such as Father D’Souza indicate a rare intersection of science, religion, and public discourse, emphasising the need for rigorous examination free from sensationalism. This multifaceted approach, amid political, military, and scientific considerations, marks the current phase of the ongoing attempt to understand unexplained aerial phenomena beyond mere spectacle.
