Vardoger
A vardøger (Norwegian:vardøgr) is a Scandinavian folklore phenomenon where a person's spirit, or "pre-ghost," is seen or heard arriving at a location shortly before they arrive in person. Witnesses often hear familiar sounds like footsteps or a door opening, believing the person has arrived, only to find no one there.
