Occult

The occult, derived from the Latin occultus ("hidden, secret"), refers to a category of esoteric, supernatural, or mystical beliefs and practices that fall outside the scope of traditional religion and mainstream science. It involves studying "hidden" knowledge to achieve spiritual insight, personal power, or to influence natural laws, with practices such as magic, alchemy, astrology, divination, and séances.
